I'm less nervous even in my daily life, and I LOVE being part of this community! I’ve made friends, gained confidence, and even use my Spanish daily as a nurse and volunteer at an immigration center to help others. The key is showing up; those who do see the most improvement.

I joined the Blacklingual program in September 2024 after seeing another member’s review via TikTok. I was searching for a community that would help me with my speaking skills. I had tried other programs that would have conversation hours, but they felt too difficult and intimidating for someone who’s as introverted as I am. I would always leave those meetings feeling disappointed in myself, but that is not the case for Blacklingual.

Ren and the other members are beyond welcoming and encouraging. There are multiple opportunities to exercise your Spanish through listening, reading, challenges, and games. The way we learn here is so exciting and relevant to our everyday lives. I also love that there is no video during the activities. For me that removes so much pressure and distraction, you can focus solely on your Spanish. Most importantly, the people in the community make me feel at home and comfortable.

This community is a safe and supportive environment where you can truly thrive. Ren leads by example, showing that no one is perfect, and his relatable, personable approach makes you feel comfortable and inspired to keep going.

The challenges push you to step out of your comfort zone and use the Spanish you know, with positive feedback that keeps you motivated. The support here is unmatched—everyone celebrates each other’s progress, lifting each other up in ways that have touched my heart. These people make me cry because I’m so proud of everyone!

I started feeling confident after 4–6 months, and a year later, my confidence is leaps and bounds better. Every time I enter the community, I learn something new.

This community is incredibly supportive and immersive, offering live events and constant encouragement to speak Spanish. When I joined in July 2023, I was learning Spanish just to understand music, but by December, I realized I could actually speak it!

The focus on speaking from day one—unlike traditional classes—helped me initiate conversations with other Spanish speakers within 5–6 months. Even without leaving my city, the community gave me a daily immersive experience, and Ren's challenges made speaking Spanish instantly usable. This is a place for anyone who truly wants to start speaking Spanish, not just learning numbers and colors.

To say I was initially skeptical to join an online community I first learned about on TikTok would be an understatement. However, I kept seeing Ren and Blacklingual showing up on my timeline. It started with a follow (low commitment), then a few likes (no pressure), then checking out the Blacklingual YouTube page, then thinking about subscribing to the Blacklingual community, but still not pulling the trigger. Then one day I said, you know what, the investment in my Spanish learning journey is worth it. What do I have to lose? If I don’t like it, I can just leave.

It’s been a year, and guess what? Still here and loving it more and more everyday. Get off the fence and get in on this amazing experience, in this awesome community with an amazingly diverse and supportive group of individuals at all levels in their Spanish learning journey.

I love what this community stands for. When I first came in I was educated enough to conjugate verbs and read. However, I lacked confidence and conversational skills. I’ve been impressed with not only what I’ve learned and the vast resources provided, but also seeing others grow in the community.

The tools given are things that are relatable in real time and not things that are irrelevant.

Being in the Blacklingual community is truly priceless! I personally joined because I knew I needed a virtual space that I could work on improving my Spanish. And what I got from the community was that and so much more. I learned how to not just say words and phrases in Spanish but learned to hold conversations with native Spanish speakers.

Ren is an exceptional coach that has built my confidence in a way that I needed to move forward on my Spanish-speaking journey. He’s not only encouraging but so knowledgeable. You can tell he takes his time to create and lead activities for the community. Not only will you get an amazing coach, you’ll also get so much support from other motivated individuals who are also on their journey to speaking Spanish.

I was hesitant to join after seeing it on TikTok because I thought it might be too good to be true. What interested me most was that it looked like a safe space for black people to learn. I can honestly say that turned out to be 1000% true and joining the community was the BEST thing I have done in my Spanish journey so far.

We all work together to grow our confidence in speaking Spanish, share experiences, and support each other. Since joining, my confidence in speaking has increased, I’m constantly learning, and I look forward to talking to the group every day.

Also, I can’t say enough about how great Ren is. I’m so glad Ren decided to follow his passion. He’s created a collective community that is thriving and you can feel how passionate he is. He’s so hands on and he cares so much about everyone’s success. I don’t know how he keeps track of all of us, but he does! Because of him, we all look forward to showing up everyday.

Blacklingual has been an amazing addition to my journey of learning Spanish. With Blacklingual, you join a community where you can practice speaking the language without judgment, get helpful critiques, laugh, play games, and so much more; all while constantly learning Spanish. With Blacklingual, there is no pressure to be perfect or to complete the program by a certain time.

Since I have joined the the community, my Spanish has improved tremendously. I have noticed that my confidence with speaking, as well as going out my comfort zone to practice in real life has increased.

Ren is a great teacher who breaks down the information and makes it easier for you to learn, but also encourages you and others to put you at ease. In the community, we act just as that. I always feel comfortable to reach out to other members for tips, studying sessions, etc.
